The Many Faces of Jordan

My little man is quite the character.  I'm glad I was able to capture his boyish imaginations!

I've Got Monkeys (Wall Climbers!)

My children are like monkeys -- they'd climb everything!  Ever since Jordan was 3 years old, he would climb doorways.  And now that Aubrey is older / taller and can reach the doorways with her legs and arms... she's been doing it too!  Even Amberly tries so hard and likes to do it too, but she is just too little yet.  Although, I am pretty sure when she gets older and taller, she's going to be doing it too.  I can just imagine all the footprints I will find on the walls in random places. :-P

Kids Arts & Crafts

Here are some of my kids arts and crafts for this year 2010.  I will be compiling all their works of arts and crafts they made, and create a separate Photo Album to showcase them all.  Let's start with the most recent.

monkey-in-vines

We got the inspiration from Kelley's post of her kids' craft night.

These are Jordan and Aubrey's monkeys.  And of course, they have to be hanging / swining from a vine... so we taped them to a green yarn that I attached from the ceiling.

paint-your-own-cow-bank

Aunt Kimmy gave Aubrey a Paint-Your-Own Cow bank for her 3rd birthday.  This is her painted cow bank.  I had a hard time not to look and help her out with this one.  So, I left the room and let her have a go at it.  I think her cow looks very colorful! :)

Aubrey says, "Thank you for the cow bank, Aunt Kimmy!"

Aubreys_elephant

Earlier this year, I got the kids a set of 4 Paint-Your-Own critters.  I let them each have an animal to paint, and have the other 2 for later.  This is Aubrey's critter, the Elephant.  She did most of the painting with a little help from me.  At first, the eyes were only a dark spot and Aubrey came running to me and said that the Elephant's eyes looked scary.  It did look really scary!  One you see from horror moves, I would think were the eyes are lifeless.  So, we fixed it by painting white to it.

Jordans_frog

This is Jordan's Frog.  He did almost all the work, except for dotting the eyes were Jeb helped him with it.  He was insistent that he do it all by himself.

It's hard for me to do these type of crafts with the kids, because of my compulsive nature to step-in and make it looking perfect.  Me, being perfectionist and all.  Jeb have to remind me that this is the kids crafts and let them do whatever they want.  That's how they will remember and appreciate it more.

Aubreys_clay-doggy

This is made from polymer or sculping clay that you bake in the oven.  This was actually quite fun and very easy to make!  I got them at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store and it had a free how-to-do it sheet.

Yes, I helped Aubrey with this project.

Jordans-clay-turtle This is Jordan's turtle and yes, I did help him with this one too.  I asked him to make all the little balls and then flatten it to make the spots.  We had a lot of fun doing this craft.

Kids Early Feast Gift

A week ago, we got the kids their early Feast presents.  Jordan and Aubrey both like trains and wanted to build on to their Thomas & Friends set.  Last year, we got him a T & F wooden train set, and I like the wooden set a lot better we decided to keep and build on with the wooden train set.  Well, you all know that Thomas & Friends wooden trains are not cheap and if you buy the character trains and the wooden railways and accesories... it all adds up!  Here's a great deal we found and put together.  At Target, they also have the cheaper brand Circo for wooden train sets.  They have a 120-pc wooden train set w/ Drawbridge for only less than $50 (with all the tracks, trees, people, etc -- that would have cost maybe twice if more for the Thomas set).  We tried it with the Thomas wooden tracks and it fits perfect.  So, we decided to go buy the 120-pc set from Circo (the kids wouldn't know the difference) and just get the Thomas & Friends train character (that, they will notice) one at a time.

circo_train-set

This is an example of the Circo 120-pc Wooden Train set.  I could not find the exact set that we got from Target (and oddly enough, Target does not have it listed), but anyway, it is very similar to this set except the trees are 'tree-shaped' rather than 'evergreen-shaped', and it has a drawbridge instead of a mountain.

When we took it home and set it all up... the kids just loved it, they played with their train set for hours!  And they wouldn't have noticed the difference of the tracks and accesories being different from their other Thomas tracks.

Jordan's own song versions

It's funny sometimes to hear how the kids sing their nursery rhyme songs.  They hear us sing it, and then they copy us with their own words that sounds somewhat similar to the original. :)  Here are a few examples:

"Row, Row, Row Your Boat"

Row, row, row your boat
Nicely down the street (Gently down the stream)
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream.

(Note:  I also like Sophia's version for this song... instead of "Life is but a dream," her's is "Life's a Jelly bean!")

"This Little Piggy"

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed home
This little piggy had roast pig (This little piggy had roast beef)
This little piggy had none
And this little piggy cried,
Wee, wee, wee all the way home.
